LABORER
This position performs a variety of landscape activities, such as planting, string trimming, erosion control installation, digging, spreading topsoil and other materials, lawn / ditch maintenance, hardscape construction and seasonal clean-up, all under direct supervision. Additionally, assembles/builds forms for concrete, pours concrete, landscape borders and places rock under general supervision. The laborer may also operate commercial lawn mowers and related equipment.
SENIOR LABORER
A senior laborer is a future equipment operator in training. He/she conducts the same activities as a laborer while being trained on equipment operation. Has two or more years of construction laborer experience and is in the process of acquiring a Class "A" Commercial Drivers License (CDL). An Individual who already has a CDL, but not enough experience on MLS equipment, will be paid a higher rate while they are training on our equipment. They are expected to be able to work alone or as a pair on larger job sites.
EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
An equipment operator is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment in an effective and safe way. This equipment can include semi trucks, agricultural tractors, excavators, skid steers, compactors, front-end loaders, hand tools, power tools, lawn mowers and trimmers. A Class A CDL with Air, Combination, and Tanker endorsements is required for this position. This job is critical to the functioning of a landscape construction company.
Skills crucial to this position are communication and problem solving abilities. Equipment operators should be flexible and proficient in English to understand the Team Leader's instructions and construction plans. They should be able to work well as an individual or as part of a team. They will be expected to become experts in all MLS equipment and improve efficiency by making recommendations on work flow and task execution.
TEAM LEADER
The team leader is an experienced landscaper working with minimal direct supervision. The position works as a member of the company leadership and directs the activities of two or more team members at a job site. The landscape team leader is able to operate a variety of equipment and has a working knowledge of horticultural practices, project management, possesses a Class A CDL and must lead by example.
Skills crucial to this position are strong communication, time and stress management, as well as, analytical and problem solving abilities. Teams Leaders should be flexible and proficient in English to keep records. They should be able to work well as an individual or as part of a team and, since they occasionally will spend time with clients, should have customer service skills.
